Services: One Generation Away (OneGenAway), has increased the number of its mobile food distributions, adding locations near the areas hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and recent tornadoes. It is also providing emergency food boxes to children/teens who rely on their schools for breakfast and lunch. OneGenAway will continue its Mobile Pantry deliveries throughout the pandemic. PLEASE NOTE: Food is distributed on a first come, first served basis. Due to the high volume of need, we will only distribute one cart per car. OneGenAway serves outside, rain or shine. TSU’s COVID-19 Academy Offers Resources & Education
Access to healthy foods and the preparation of nutritious meals, particularly for young children is the focus of the Dept. of Human Services’ nutrition role with the TSU COVID-19 Academy. The University’s Dept. of Human Services can provide healthy food options along with resources for families seeking assistance. This includes fresh vegetables and fruits through the TSU Extension Center and Urban Gardens Initiative. The department will offer provide other food service resources including a listing of local food banks, food pantries, and outlets where local residents can go to pick up food.

Services: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety and health of all patients and staff, the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center will maintain regular hours but suspend extended hours until the end of May. This includes:

Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center treats minor medical problems such as the cold and flu, and manageable chronic conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure. - For those who believe they may have been exposed to or infected with COVID-19:
- All Meharry Medical Group (MMG) health care providers, including the Employee (Student) Health Center, will assess patients for potential COVID-19 infection. MMG clinicians will not assess patients who are not exhibiting symptoms (fever, cough and shortness of breath).
- Those with cough and fever will be asked for a travel history to determine if they are at risk for the coronavirus. Patients who respond “yes” to these questions will be masked to protect other patients as the cause of their illness is being evaluated.
